Roots for ChatGPT
The Roots plugin brings short, practical philosophy into ChatGPT. It is made by LMT Digital Creations, the company behind the Roots app.
What it does
The plugin has three tools. ChatGPT calls them when they fit what you ask, and each one shows a card in the conversation:
- A practice for this moment. When you tell ChatGPT about a hard moment, it can show one of our practice guides with its steps and a link to the full guide on this site. The guides exist in English, German, French and Spanish.
- Lesson of the day. The lesson the Roots app shows today, in English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch or Portuguese.
- Which philosophy fits you? A four-question quiz you answer in the card, which then shows a thinker, one of their quotes and a path of lessons in the app.
The plugin is free and needs no account. It sells nothing and shows no prices.
Privacy
When ChatGPT calls a tool, our server receives only what the tool needs: the id of the guide to show, the language of the card and, for the lesson of the day, the date. It never receives your conversation or anything you wrote.
Your quiz answers stay in the card, inside ChatGPT. They are not sent to us.
For each call the server writes one line to a log: the time, the tool, the language and the guide or lesson shown. We use it to see which tools are used and to fix errors. It holds nothing that identifies you, and each month's log is deleted after three months.
The links in the cards carry the label utm_source=chatgpt, so that we can count visits that come from the plugin. If you then create a Roots account on this site, the app's privacy policy applies.
OpenAI's own handling of your conversations is described in OpenAI's privacy policy.
Terms of use
You may use the plugin and its content for your own, personal reflection. The texts, guides and lessons belong to LMT Digital Creations; the quotes belong to their authors or are in the public domain.
Roots offers philosophy for everyday life. It is no substitute for medical or psychological care. If you are in crisis or think you might harm yourself, call your local emergency number or a crisis line now.
The plugin is provided as it is, and we may change or stop it at any time. The Roots app is covered by its own terms in the App Store and Google Play.
